Joytech Wii Power Station External PSU
I just got my Joytech Wii Power Station charging unit for my Wiimotes today, and although the power cable connection is ingenious, it is also inflexible. The docking station gets its power from a passthrough connector which attaches to the back of the Wii, meaning your docking station must be very close to your Wii, which is not ideal for many layouts. This simple guide explains how to connect the Wii power station to an external power supply, allowing it to be plugged in anywhere with an electrical socket nearby.
USB Wii Sensor Bar
Nintendo's Wii has a great controller which has both accellorometers and pointing functionality for fun with motion, and it also communicates using the Bluetooth protocol. This means that it is possible to hook the Wiimote up to a Bluetooth enabled PC which has all sorts of possible applications. For example, it is possible to use the Wiimote as a mouse in Windows, or use it in games. To detect where it is pointing, the Wiimote uses the Wii's "Sensor bar", which is actually an array of infrared LEDs which the Wiimote uses as a position reference. To make it nice and easy for me to use my Wiimote on my computer I decided to construct a USB sensor bar for my PC. Here are the instructions for how you can make one too!
Xbox 360 Fan Stand Mod
I don't know about everyone else, but when I bought my Pelican Xbox 360 Fan Stand I was upset to see only ONE fan powered by USB which should be around 5v of power. Well in this tutorial I will show you how to give it 3 fans and increase the voltage to roughly 12v.
Wii Internal Memory Card Mod
This guide explains how you can mount a Gamecube memory card inside your Wii, so that it does not need to be plugged in or visible from the outside of the console. Basic soldering experience is required to attempt this mod, and you will need to take apart your console almost completely, voiding your warranty.
Wii Internal Wavebird Receiver Mod
This guide explains how you can mount your WaveBird receiver module inside your Wii, so that it does not need to be plugged into the Gamecube controller socket or even visible from the outside of the case. The mod allows you to still use a wired controller in the modified ports just in case your batteries run out. Basic soldering skills are required and you must take apart your Wii completely, voiding your warranty.
